                                                 BATIK PRINTING

This coloured and patterned cloth is now becoming popular in Malaysia and the best Malaysian batiks come from the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. There are two types of batik, the hand drawn and the stamped. Recently there are also machine printed batik which design is clearer and colour on one side only.

Hand drawn batik uses a small copper cup and fountain pen like ‘janting’ with melted wax to draw across the length and breadth of the cloth. Dyeing process is like filling colour on the drawing block, only different is the outline is wax instead of pen. The waxed areas resist dye. The cloth will then sent to ‘boil’ in warm water in order to get rid of the wax after it is soaked in chemical that makes the colour stay.

Stamped batik has the similar process like hand drawn batik, only different is the janting will be replaced by a copper or sometimes a wooden stamp which looks like a domestic iron with artistically patterned bottom.

Today batik is not only used for outfits but some innovative commercial individual has made full use of this beautiful and artistic textile into making bags, cushion covers, curtains, slippers etc.

Here ,i have a video to show you how batik printing in Terengganu.
hope you will enjoy this video :)

The hilly island of Redang can be fascinating in its own way. There is a moderately well trodden and marked path between Pasir Panjang and Teluk Dalam beach, about 2 km long. Sights include a small stream and pools alive with catfish, the occasional encounter with the shy kancil (little deer) and monkeys, and other jungle flora and fauna. At the end of the trek is the Berjaya Redang Beach Resort at Teluk Dalam.                            PASAR PAYANG

What would Kuala Terengganu be without the Pasar Payang, or the Central Market? Located just a few minutes of walking north along the pier from the inter-city bus station, it serves as both wet market and a trade centre for the local community. There is an air of festivity as one approaches the entrance of the market, with makeshift stalls lining the path, showcasing trinkets of all kinds.
In their loudest voice, the local peddlers will impress you with the alleged magical powers of the amulets, the potency of their traditional medicines, or the quality of their precious stones.
It’s a wonder how they could sustain their voice for so long without getting a sore throat – there must be something in those “amulets.”

                                                                                      Hard to resist keropoks

                                                                                 Manning the Stall

Fresh fish, poultry, vegetables and fruits can be found on the ground floor, many manned by kindly-faced old ladies, ever smiling, inviting you to their wares. This is where you'll find the unfamiliar and sometimes the bizarre. One can get fresh produce of local delicacies such as the 'keropok lekor' - made of grounded fish and sagu flour, and 'serunding' - the spicy flavoursome meat floss.
Seduced by their charms, I ended up with so many bags of keropoks – it was hard not to buy from the friendly and sweet, demure ladies!
